Entered into eternal rest suddenly but peacefully, in the presence of her loving family on Saturday, August 13th, 2022, age 84 years. Predeceased by her husband of 29 years, Vince Waddleton (1997), parents John and Elizabeth McNeil, sister Patricia Waddleton (2015), Brother in-laws William (1997), and France (1998), and sister in-law Alice (1949).
Leaving to mourn with cherished memories, her three loving children: Neil (Melissa), Adele Costello (Ray), Tish (Keith); as well as her 6 darling grandchildren whom she adored: Danielle, Olivia, Nathan, Evan, Charlie and Judy.
Mom was a very prominent member of the community. She was a teacher for 29 years. She served as a councilor for the town of Trepassey from 1977-1981 and was the first woman Mayor on council from 1981-1985. Mom loved talking politics, and ran for the Liberal nomination in the provincial election during the 1970’s. Mom served on several committees for many years in various roles. She was the Seniors Rep on the Irish Loop Board, a member of the Trepassey Lions Club, and Secretary on the Trepassey 50+ Club. Mom loved music and volunteered her talents for several years playing for the choirs in both Trepassey and St. Shott’s Parishes.
For the last 3 years Mom resided at Alderwood Estates in Witless Bay which allowed her to participate in the activities she loved; including playing piano, dancing, and establishing wonderful friendships.
She will be sadly missed by her sister in law Josephine Waddleton, her nieces and nephews, and a large circle of close friends, including her Alderwood family.
Resting at Fahey’s Funeral Home, Trepassey Tuesday, August 16th from 2:00PM – 9:00PM and Wednesday, August 17th from 12:00PM – 1:00PM. Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Redeemer Church, Trepassey on Wednesday, August 17th at 2:00PM. Interment to follow at Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Trepassey. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations may be made in her memory to the Trepassey 50 + Friendship Club.
