It is with great sadness we announce the passing of
Marie Elizabeth Somers, 75 years, of
Springhill, on Wednesday, November 9, 2022, with her loving family by
her side, in the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre. Born in
Springhill, she was a daughter of the late Raymond N. and Margaret V.
(Bourgeois) O’Hearon.
Marie enjoyed spending her days at the Pit Pond, feeding
Chewie, her pet beaver. She was a kind and giving soul, always lending
a helping hand. She worked hard her entire life, eventually retiring
from her position as a postal worker at Canada Post. She was a devoted
mother and grandmother who loved her grandchildren dearly Marie loved
nature and animals, and was particularly fond of her dog,
Muffin.
Marie is survived by her son Tony (Ashley) Somers,
Springhill; her grandchildren, Tevin, Ethan (Abbie), and Jacob; her
sister, Betty (Jack) Crowe of Oromocto, NB; a brother-in-law, James
Gouchie, as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her son Marc Andrew; brother, Raymond
O’Hearon; and sisters, Dorothy (late Blaine) Hayden, Hattie (late
Gerald) O’Brien and Ruth Gouchie.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of the
A. H. Brown Funeral Home, 5 McFarlane
Street, Springhill, (902 597 2361). Honouring Marie’s wishes,
cremation has taken place and a private graveside service will take
place in the North Street Cemetery in the Spring.
Donations in memory of Marie be made to the GOVRC Workshop,
Springhill.
