On Thursday, October 10, in her 92 year, surrounded by her family, Maria passed peacefully from this earth She was the loving and devoted wife of Dante Montesi for 69 years. They were married in Monterado in 1953. Dante came to Canada in 1957. Maria and Fiammetta followed in 1958.
Maria was born in Ponte Rio, Monterado, Ancona, Italy. She is predeceased by her parents Giacomo Pandolfi and Giacomina Severini, her beloved brother Arduino (Maria Marchetti), her parents-in-law Amedeo Montesi and Crolinda Servadio, and her son-in-law Gilbert Mazzetti. She was a devoted and loving mother to Fiammetta, adored nonna to Mark (Andrea) and Vanessa (Albert) Succi and a proud bisnonna to Justin, Luca, Isabella, and Landon. Beloved sister-in-law to Armanda (Francesco dec.), Gianni (Nadia dec.), the late Sandrino e Cesarina, the late Enrica and Mario Pasinato, Maria and Aldo Girolimetti, nieces and nephews, cousins in Montreal, the US, and Italy.
The early years were trying. Raising a child and working off their debts made life difficult but they persevered. Maria worked at Allan Candy, Es Packers and Coppley Noyes. She stopped working to help raise her grandchildren Mark and Vanessa. She and Dante loved to travel, dine, and dance with their cadre of friends (the Nardinis, Pongettis, Iacobonis, Santillis, Rossinis, Barzettis, Rigas ) They often welcomed and hosted family who were visiting. She absolutely lit up when she was with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She had many talents. She was a proficient seamstress, avid gardener of vegetables and flowers, loved singing and dancing. She was known for her foraging too, especially her cicoria. She always embraced whatever life gave her. Maria was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother whose love for her family was at the heart of everything she did. Her gentle nature and soul filled our lives with joy, taught us how to love unconditionally and endeared her to everyone who met her. She was a compassionate, giving person who worked so hard to care for the ones she loved. She was an exceptional model of a mother, wife, nonna, bisnonna, sister and friend who through her actions and her unwavering love and selfless nature passed on the virtues and qualities that made her special. God has reserved a special place for her in heaven because someone like her brightens the sky and fills it with sparkling stars. Maria will also be remembered for her devotion to her faith, her unconditional love for her family and her delightful sense of humour.

Visitation at Bay Gardens Funeral Home – « William J. Markey Chapel », 947 Rymal Road East, HAMILTON (905.574.0405) on Monday, October 24th from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm and from 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Margaret Mary Roman Catholic Church, 20 Idlewood Avenue, Hamilton on Tuesday, October 25th at 10:00 am. Cremation will follow. Maria è nata a Ponte Rio, Monterado, Ancona, Italia. È premorta dai genitori Giacomo Pandolfi e Giacomina Severini, dall’amato fratello Arduino (Maria Marchetti), dai suoceri Amedeo Montesi e Crolinda Servadio e dal genero Gilbert Mazzetti. Era una madre devota e amorevole per Fiammetta, adorata nonna di Mark (Andrea Hyde) e Vanessa (Albert) Succi e una bisnonna orgogliosa di Giustino, Luca, Isabella e Landon. Amata cognata di Armanda (Francesco Angelonidec.), Gianni (Nadia Tarinidec.), Sandrino e Cesarina, Enrica e Mario Pasinato, Maria e Aldo Girolimetti, nipoti, cugini a Montreal, negli Stati Uniti e in Italia.
I primi anni ci stavano provando. Crescere una figlia e saldare i debiti ha reso la vita difficile, ma hanno perseverato. Maria ha lavorato presso Allan Candy, Es Packers e Coppley Noyes. Ha smesso di lavorare per aiutare a crescere i suoi nipoti Mark e Vanessa. Lei e Dante amavano viaggiare, cenare e ballare con i loro amici (i Nardini, i Pongetti, gli Iacoboni, i Santilli, i Rossini, i Barzetti, i Riga) spesso accoglievano e ospitavano i parenti che erano in visita. Si illuminava assolutamente quando era con i suoi nipoti e pronipoti.
Aveva molti talenti. Era un’abile sarta, appassionata giardiniera di verdure e fiori, amava cantare e ballare. Era conosciuta anche per il suo foraggiamento, in particolare la sua cicoria. Ha sempre abbracciato tutto ciò che la vita le ha dato. Maria era una moglie devota, madre, nonna e bisnonna il cui amore per la sua famiglia era al centro di tutto ciò che faceva. La sua natura gentile e la sua anima hanno riempito le nostre vite di gioia, ci ha insegnato come amare incondizionatamente e l’hanno resa cara a tutti coloro che l’hanno incontrata. Era una persona compassionevole e generosa che lavorava così duramente per prendersi cura di coloro che amava. Era un modello eccezionale di madre, moglie, nonna, bisnonna, sorella e amica che attraverso le sue azioni e il suo amore incrollabile e la sua natura altruista ha trasmesso le virtù e le qualità che la rendevano speciale. Dio le ha riservato un posto speciale in cielo perché una come lei illumina il cielo e lo riempie di stelle scintillanti. Maria sarà ricordata anche per la sua devozione alla sua fede, il suo amore incondizionato per la sua famiglia e il suo delizioso senso dell’umorismo.
Grazie allo staff di Macassa Lodge, dove ha vissuto negli ultimi 4 anni, per la loro cura e attenzione compassionevoli.
