Marcel Van Caeyzeele
It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our dear son, brother, husband, father, son-in-law, cousin and nephew, Marcel Van Caeyzeele, on December 8th, 2022 at the young age of 31.
Marcel will be lovingly remembered by his mom and dad, Iris and Dan, his sister, Vanessa and her partner Kurt, and her children, Nolan, Madeleine, and Hunter, his wife, Taryn, his two daughters, Marlowe and Thea, his godmother and aunti Tami and aunt Linda, his uncles John and Andy, and uncles Clyde, Wayne and Brent and foster-uncle Norman, and uncle Dean, cousins Angie & Chris, Joe & Jaclyn, Hayden & Emilah and his mother and father-in-law, Daniele and Keith.
Marcel was predeceased by his grandfather Marcel in 1965, his djido Theodore in 1990, his baba Stefanie in 2008 and his gramma Flo in 2020.
Marcel was born in Winnipeg on October 28th, 1991 and grew up in St Andrews, where he enjoyed playing on soccer and hockey teams, driving go-carts and later dirt bikes, and the company of many special friends. Marcel loved music, playing guitar in the Lockport School Jazz Band and in Jazz Camps at the International Peace Gardens for several summers, as well as in a number of rock bands which he enjoyed immensely! Marcel was an amazing guitar player, and some of his happiest times were spent jamming with his uncles and friends throughout his life.
Marcel also loved restoring, fixing, racing and driving cars and dirt bikes, a hobby he shared with his dad. Some of his proudest moments were spent racing his dad’s “Crazy Plum Purple” ‘70 Duster at the Gimli Raceway and driving his ‘65 Pontiac 2 + 2 in St Andrews with his family.
Some of Marcel’s favourite summer pastimes were fishing, boating, dirt biking, quading and spending time visiting his beloved gramma Flo at her cabin at Benyks Point with his friends and family. Gramma Flo was an awesome cook so Marcel was in his glory when eating her delicious homemade meals and desserts.
Marcel and his wife Taryn were married on September 7th, 2014 and they celebrated their marriage with family and friends the following January, 2015, in Ocho Rios, Jamaica. Their daughter, Marlowe, was born January 28th, 2016 followed by the birth of their second daughter, Thea, on August 1st, 2017.
Marcel loved his beloved Marlowe and Thea with all of his heart and his happiest times were spent with them and his wife, Taryn.
Marcel had two dogs, Lola and Dozer, whom he loved dearly. Unfortunately they both passed away at different times this past year which saddened Marcel very much.
A service to celebrate Marcel’s life will take place on Monday, December 19th, at 1:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, 309 Eveline St. in Selkirk, Manitoba.
