It is with sadness that we announce the
passing of Lorna Jane Smith, age 86, of
Springhill, NS. Lorna passed away at the Cumberland Regional
Health Care Centre on Wednesday, May 11, 2022.
Born in Hastings, NS, she was a daughter
of the late Norman and Etta (Atkinson) Noonan.
Lorna was a gentle loving soul, putting
everyone else’s needs ahead of her own. She worked her whole
life as a registered nurse between the Amherst and Springhill
Hospitals. She loved animals, having owned several dogs and cats. She
was a frequent donor to a variety of charities. She was a
member of the Springhill Seniors and loved playing
cards.
She will be dearly missed by her second
husband of nearly 10 years, Lawrence «Larry» Tower of
Springhill; sisters; Wanda Livingstone, Amherst, Sharon Smith (Jim
Gallagher), Mapleton, NS; Sharon’s daughter Susan Smith (Jay Burke),
Springhill, who was also like a daughter to Lorna; step daughter Terry
(Ken) Davey, Southampton, NS; step son Bill Tower, Courtenay, BC; as
well as several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her first
husband, Gerald H. Smith; an infant son and infant daughter Jean
Marie.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the
A H Brown Funeral Home, 5 McFarlane St.,
Springhill, NS, (902-597-2361). In keeping with Lorna’s
wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life
will take place at a future date. Lorna will be buried
beside her first husband in the Hillside Cemetery.

so to the LA Animal Shelter, the Kidney Foundation, the Cancer
Society, or a charity of the donor’s choice.
