It is with heartfelt sadness that we regret to announce the passing of our loving mother, grandmother and friend Leonie McNeil who passed away Friday October 28, 2022 at Villa Du Repos, Moncton.
Born in Porcelette, France on December 5, 1932; she was the daughter of the late Jean Laurent and Catherine Hoerner.
She met her husband Denis McNeil in France where he was serving in Overseas. They returned to Canada where they remained happily married for 53 years until his death in February 2012.
Leonie is survived by her only daughter Christiane (Ricardo), sons Claude (Mary), and Bernard (Guilda) and was predeceased by her son Ronald. She is also survived by her grandchildren Meaghan, Kayla and Connor. She is survived by one sister Mathilde Wilhelmina and is predeceased by sisters Rosie Meunière, Irma Muller, and Alice Lang and one brother Jacques Bernede.
Leonie was a loving mother to her children and grandchildren. During her stay at the Villa, she met two special friends Raymonde and Collette who visited her often and made her life more enjoyable. Her family wish to express a sincere thank you for their kindness and friendship.
Leonie spent the majority of her life caring for neighborhood children whom she treated with much love.
A special thank you to the staff at the Villa Du Repos for caring for Leonie for the last 9 years.
A funeral service will be held on November 10th, 2022 at 2 pm at Bell’s Funeral Home in Miramichi, New Brunswick with a graveside burial to follow.
Leonie is gone but will never be forgotten.
