Obituary
Klaus succumbed to his long battle with Alzheimer’s with his family by his side on Tuesday, August 30. He is predeceased by his parents and his brother, Axel. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Pamela; his sons, Gregory (Karina) and Eric (Karen); and his granddaughters, Reva (Evan), Roja and Svea (Ryan) and the family far and wide.
Born in Germany, he completed his apprenticeship in the profession of cook. He worked two seasons in Switzerland and France and in 1958 he went to Iran to work in several construction camps. In 1959 he was working for the American Embassy in Teheran and that is where he met Pamela. They married in 1961. In 1968 Klaus and his family moved to Frankfurt, Germany, where they owned and operated a restaurant. 1974 saw them move to Vancouver and then to Port Alice, where he again worked as a chef in construction camps. In 1978, Klaus accepted the promotion to District Manager in Saskatchewan. He always said “we survived three winters in Saskatoon!” In 1981, Klaus moved his family to North Vancouver, where he and Pamela lived until his retirement. In 2014 they moved to Sidney, BC and in 2021 to Kelowna.
Klaus and Pamela loved travelling! Most of Europe, the Middle East, with their 5th wheel they made several trips to California, Arizona and Utah, they were on many cruises and really fell in love with Maui! They also loved to entertain family, friends and neighbors.
We would like to thank all of the friends who called in the past two weeks. It made this time so much more bearable, knowing that he had so many friends! A celebration of life will be held in Kelowna.
