NORTHEY, Karen (nee YOUNG)
On Sunday December 4, 2022 Karen got her wings and went to walk with the angels. She had proudly reached her milestone 80th year in October, at which time she had several wonderful celebrations with her family and friends. Karen was born in Fergus and had a love for knitting teddybears for charities, along with knitting various goodies for her loved ones over the years. She enjoyed a competitive game of Scrabble or Euchre among many other card games with friends and family. Karen and Jack were married for 54 happy years and enjoyed raising their wonderful children in Cambridge.
Karen was a dedicated wife, mom, sister, aunt, grandma, cousin, neighbour, and friend to all. She will be greatly missed by her husband Jack, children John, Kristine, Jennifer (Dave), sister Jayne (Ross), adoring grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and many many other loved family and friends. A special thanks to friends Bonnie (Mike) and Sue (Jack) for their support during Karen’s final days. Thank you to everyone who provided support to Karen and her family with love, care, food and smiles. Predeceased by her brother Paul, parents Maurice and Muriel, daughter Karen (Bob), and daughter-in-law Cheryl (John).
Cremation has taken place and there will be no funeral service as per Karen’s wishes. A private interment of ashes at the Southampton Cemetery will take place. Family and friends are invited to gather for a Celebration of Karen’s Life at Eagleson Funeral Home in the Spring. A date will be provided once we can safely travel to be together.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Karen Northey’s honour to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of your choice.
