Obituary of Judith Ann Barr
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Judith Ann Barr, loving wife of the late Colby Barr, announce her passing, which occurred on December 17, 2022 at Bobby’s Hospice, Saint John, NB. Born in Saint John, NB on March 6, 1944, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Helen (Stevens) Mitchell.
Judith is survived by her two daughters: Deborah Barr of Kingston, NB and Kitty Martin (Paul) of Kingston, NB; two sons: Sonny Barr (Judy) of Kingston and Robbie Barr (Christa) of Hampton; sisters: Jeanette Stevens and Joan Wilson (Doug); brothers: Bill Mitchell (Geraldine), Sam Mitchell (Connie), Allen Mitchell (Theresa), Harold Mitchell and Danny Mitchell; ten grandchildren: Katie Hatvani (Peter), John Curtis Jones (Larissa), Holli Cole (Nolan), Mitchell Barr, Joey Thompson (Isabelle), Mike Thompson (Beth), Kira Delle Valle (Giuliano), Jenna Floyd (Josh), Ethan Barr and Isaac Barr; ten great-grandchildren: Asher, Colton, Fenwick, Lillian, Hazen, Aidan, Elias, Auri, Benjamin and Lila; two step grandchildren: Mike Jones and Jennie Burley (Jamie); nine step great-grandchildren: Noah, Hannah, Gracie, Hayley, Emily, Abby, Jeremy, Cassandra and Annabelle; special brothers-in-law: Garrey Barr (Claudette) and Marty Barr (Veronique); sisters-in-law: Delta White and Gwen Barr; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, Judith was predeceased by her loving husband Leon “Colby” Barr in 2020; siblings: Wayne, Margaret, Malcolm, Marlene, Doreen, Dianne, Bobby, Betty and Dorothy.
Judy was an active member of the Kingston Baptist Church, where she served in ministry as a Sunday school teacher, Awana youth leader, VBS teacher, WMS, Keenagers group and weekly prayer & bible study groups. She loved her church family. Her main occupation was a homemaker and she also worked at the MCS cafeteria for nine years. She resided on the Kingston Peninsula, where she met and married her sweetheart Colby and raised four children. Judy’s passion was her faith and her family. She loved to read her bible and books and writing in her journal. Judy liked baking and listening to her music, camping with her honey and celebrating family birthdays with cake and cards. Judy had a servant’s heart and gave back to her family and community.
The family would like to express a special thank you to Dr. O’Brien, staff and volunteers at Bobby’s Hospice. Also, a sincere thank you to all the people who came to visit, brought food, cards, gift cards, offered prayers of comfort and to those who contributed to the funeral service. Thank you to Kingston Baptist Church and Erbs Cove Baptist Church for all the love and support over the years.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Reid’s Funeral Home (506-832-5541), 1063 Main Street, Hampton, NB, where visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 21, 2022 from 4-7PM. The funeral service will take place on Thursday, December 22, 2022 at 11:00AM from Kingston Baptist Church. Interment will take place in the spring at Kingston Baptist Cemetery.
Donations in memory of Judith may be made to Bobby’s Hospice, Canadian Baptist Ministries (Faith In Work) or to a charity of the donor’s choice. Personal condolences to the family and memorial donations may be made through ReidsFH.com
