It is with broken hearts that the family of the late Josephine Seymour announces her passing from the Copper Crescent Long term Care Facility, Baie Verte, NL on Saturday, November 26, 2022 at the age of 84 years.
Mary Josephine Payne (Phine) was born on January 19, 1938 in Harbour Round, NL to Michael and Bernetta Payne. Later in life she met and married Patrick Seymour (Pad) on June 17, 1955. Together they had 14 children and raised 10 of them to adulthood.
Phine loved mixing bread and cooking, all the while caring for her family. She was well known for her love of knitting. She made some of the best knitted socks and mitts you could find, all made with so much love.
Phine’s love for her family showed no boundaries, she could put a smile on anyone’s face. Phine was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to many. Gone from our sight, but forever in our hearts. Always loved and forever missed.
Left with a lifetime of beautiful memories are her sons, Dominic Seymour Sr. , Sooke, BC, Michael Seymour (John), Branch, NL, Garret Seymour (Leona), Harbour Round, NL, Karen Sullivan (Eugene), Harbour Round, NL, Ron Seymour (Ethel), Harbour Round, NL, Tony Seymour (Rose Ann), Harbour Round, NL, Pius Seymour (Amy), Nanaimo, BC, Cathy Scott (Mike), La Scie, NL and Steve Seymour, Harbour Round, NL; grandchildren, Iesha, Patricia, Natasha, Joan, Theodore, Patrick, Alex, Dominic, Barbara, Vanessa, Nicholas, Jessie, Hailey, Marcus, Nekita, Bernie, Nikki, Cassandra, Danica, and Terrance; 23 great-grandchildren; siblings-in-law, Irene Payne Skinner, Ann Payne, Genevieve Payne, Agnes Payne and Ann Haas, as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Phene is predeceased by her husband, Patrick Seymour; sons, Patrick Jr., Michael Jerome and Donald Scott; daughters, Mary Ellen and Joan; grandson, Dean Sullivan; granddaughter, Iesha Seymour; great-granddaughter, Katrina Drake; parents, Michael and Bernetta Payne; parents-in-law, Peter and Mary Francis Seymour; siblings, Jack Payne (Josephine), Arthur Payne, Lar Payne, Ralph Payne, Michael Martin (Teresa), Bridget Giles (James), Margaret Giles (Lester), Nora Matthews (Lar), Ann Drover (Cyril) and Lucy Haas (Vincent); siblings-in-law, John Jim Seymour (Elizabeth), Ambrose Seymour Sr. (Mary Ann), Peter Seymour (Margaret), Bridget Barker (James), Elizabeth Skinner (John) and Mary Margaret Jones (Garret).
Public visitation will take place from Immaculate Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church, Harbour Round, NL on Tuesday, November 29, 2022 from 7-9 pm, continuing on Wednesday, November 30, 2022 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm.
The rosary service will take place Tuesday, November 29, 2022 at 7 pm.
The wake service will take place on Wednesday, November 30, 2022 at 7 pm.
The Mass of Christian Burial will take place from Immaculate Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church, Harbour Round, NL on Thursday, December 1, 2022 at 11 am with Father Camillus Ekedobe officiating. Interment will follow on at a later date.
As an expression of sympathy, flowers are gratefully accepted or donations may be made in Josephine’s memory to Immaculate Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church, Harbour Round, NL.
