Obituary of Joseph Edward James Hobbs
Passed peacefully away on December 20, 2022 at the Carmelite House in Grand Falls-Windsor, Joseph Edward James Hobbs (Jim) at the age of 89 years. Jim is predeceased by his parents, Sarah Jane and Edward Hobbs, parents-in-law Earl and Martha Powell, sisters Maude Noseworthy, Elizabeth Downer, Audrey Hobbs, and Emily Martin and brother William Hobbs.
Dad retired from Abitibi Price in 1994 and anyone who knew dad knew taht he loved the outdoors. He was an avid outdoorsman, trapper and hunter. He began trapping at the age of 14 and continued to do so until his health declined at the age of 86. He was a simple man who loved a great cup of tetley tea and a yarn with friends and family who would visit. He could talk for hours about his many trips to the cabin or about the wild life he seen while in the woods whether it was getting a load of wood or just up for a look around. He will be mised by everyone who knew and loved him.
He leaves to mourn his wife of 62 years, Myrtle, son Jimmy, daughters Wanda (Lee) Stroud, Annette (Kater) Hobbs, Cindy (Trent) Pittman, Debbie Hobbs, Karen (Leo) Hobbs, anbd Marilyn (Terry) Sooley. Special granddaughter Kimberly Sooley and special nephew Alfred Hobbs; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.
Rev. Jeffery Blackwood will conduct the funeral service from St. Albans Anglican Church in Grand Falls-Windsor on December 23 at 11am. Pallbearers will be Lee Stroud Sr., Lee Stroud Jr., Trent Pittman, Terry Sooley-Brookings, Terry Sooley, and Leo Savoury. Honorary pallbearer Alfred Hobbs.
The family would like to thank Ruth Wells, Dr. Sarah Clancy, Lori Kenny, Dr. Elizabeth Bautista and the night staff at the Carmelite House, A Wing. Your kindes and compassion did not go unnoticed. A special thank you to Rev. Jeff Blackwood for your support during this difficult time.
