Obituary for
Joseph Paul Murray «Joe» Bissonnette
On May 10, 2022, Joseph Paul Murray “Joe” Bissonnette of Grande Prairie, AB peacefully passed away at the age of 58 years, with family by his side.
Joe is survived by his daughter, Paige; siblings, Ken (Joanne), Ron (Shauna), Louise (Dave) and Elizabeth; and many more relatives and friends. Joe was predeceased by his parents, Hector and Eleanor.
As a young boy, Joe was mischievous and free spirited. He was a risk taker on the pedal bike to motor bike, receiving scars and broken bones. But he would always get back up and ride again. Joe’s sense of humour was sprinkled with kindness. His rough exterior of tattoos and leather was in contrast to his gentle heart. No matter the obstacles and roadblocks, Joe followed his dreams of music. He was self taught on guitar and drums, creating a plethora of songs and rocking small stages in the Grande Prairie pub scene.
The family would like to thank the doctors and staff of the University of Alberta Hospital’s ICU, Floor 4 staff of the Mazankowski Alberta Heart Institute, and the 9Y staff at Edmonton General Continuing Care Centre for supporting Joe. Most dear to the family’s hearts are the staff of the Mayerthorpe Healthcare Centre who gifted Joe with friendship and compassion as they helped the family walk Joe home to heaven where he will eternally play his music among the angels.
A Celebration of Joe’s Life will be held Saturday, May 28, 2022, at 2 p.m. at the Whitecourt Cemetery with Reverend Ruth Lotholz officiating.
Joe will be remembered for his love of music and to honour his passion, donations would be appreciated to the Alberta Music Education Foundation (AMEF) www.amef.ca. This charitable organization supports the development of music in youth through programs, scholarships, camps, festivals, and equipment.
Nos plus sincères sympathies à la famille et aux amis de Joseph Paul Murray Joe
