In loving memory, we announce the passing of John Richard Boone on Sunday, October 23, 2022, in Calgary, at the age of 62 years. He was predeceased by his father Joost Boone. He is survived by his children, Jessica, Joshua and Samantha. His mother Geessien Bootsma ( Heikens , Boone) , siblings, Bill, Laura, Tony, Tracey and their families, nieces, nephews and grandchildren. John was born in Surrey, B.C and resided in Golden, with the bulk of his life spent in Calgary from his teen years on.
John was at home and loved working in commercial kitchens, working his way up through the ranks as he gained experience. He worked at numerous establishments in Western Canada, obtaining his formal training in Calgary at SAIT, a renowned institution in the culinary world. At all family gatherings, John was always quick to share a culinary tip in the kitchen, which was followed by a whirl wind of activity, including conveyance of a humorous anecdote regarding a situation he had encountered in the many restaurants in which he worked.
John had a great love of music, classic rock being his favorite genre. Quick to sing a line from one of his favorite songs, he pursued writing song lyrics passionately as a hobby. Energetic to always lend a helping hand, curiosity in all topics and a voracious reader of literature.
Deep down, John was a caring and loving old soul, always hoping for the best for those closest to him, expressing genuine interest to one and all. His greatest love was for his children, which he praised and often talked about fondly. John, you will be missed by your family and friends. Your courage and positive attitude through a difficult life is one to be admired and reflected upon. You will be dearly missed but never forgotten.
As per John’s wishes, cremation will be followed by interment.
