Passed peacefully away at home with his family by his side in St. John’s, age 90 years. Jack was a proud resident of St. Brendan’s, a community he truly loved and where he spent almost the entirety of his life.
He is predeceased by his parents, William and Mary-Anne Walsh; his step-mother, Blanche Walsh; his brother, Ronald Walsh; his sister, Mary-Anne Norman (John); and his brother-in-law, James Turner (Maureen).
Left with fond and loving memories are his wife of 62 years, Catherine; his sons, Ronald (Judy), Len (Darlene), and Mike (Kay); cherished grandchildren, Dr. Melissa Walsh (Chad) and Justin Walsh; brothers, Loyola (Phyllis) and Aidan (Cathy, deceased); sisters, Mary Croke (Dan, deceased) and Genevieve Philpott (Wayne); sister-in-law, Beth Aylward (Pat); brother-in-law, Michael Turner (Patsy); special nieces, Brenda Aylward, Deanne Bridgeman (Nick), and Colleen Kenny (Leonard); special grand-nephew, Patrick Bridgeman; Life long friend Lillian Walsh and a large circle of family and friends.
Jack was a people person and brought enjoyment and a great sense of humor with him wherever he went. He was a great family man and always placed his family first. He loved to socialize, had a gift for story-telling, and had a passion for Newfoundland music. Special thanks to the nursing staff at 7 West, St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital; his palliative care team; and Dr. Brian Ramjattan.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 17th from 7-9pm and Monday, April 18th from 10am-9pm at St. Gabriel’s R. C. Church, St. Brendan’s. Mass of Christian burial will take place on Tuesday, April 19th at 11:00am with interment to follow at the R.C. Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to St. Gabriel’s Parish Cemetery Fund.
