It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of John “Jack” Gilbert on August 24, 2022, at age 79.
Beloved husband to Donna (Hillerby) Gilbert. Cherished father of Jennifer (Dan) Suffern, Cathy Garvin, and Michelle (Gavin) Coleman and stepfather to Andrea Hillerby, Jason (Catherine) Hillerby and Steven Hillerby. Loving Papa to Dallas, Payton, Noah, Aidan, Megan (JP), Matthew, MacKenzie, Austin and Sabrina. Dear brother of the late Don, Doug (Donna), and Bruce (Rita). Predeceased by his former wife Carolyn Gilbert.
Will be missed by all friends and extended family.
Jack served as Past President of Guelph Kiwanis and also served 8 years as Block Parents treasurer.
Jack will forever be remembered through his love of the Toronto Maple Leafs, his tremendous sense of humour and all the time spent and memories made at the cottage and winters spent in Florida.
A sincere thank you to staff and Team members at the Village at University Gates for their extreme kindness and loving care of Jack especially the Wright Neighbourhood.
Resting at Gilbert MacIntyre & Son Funeral Home, Hart Chapel, 1099 Gordon St, Guelph. The family will be receiving guests on Friday August 26th, 2022 from 5-8PM and Saturday August 27th, 2022 from 12-1PM. Funeral service will take place at the funeral home on Saturday August 27th, 2022 at 1PM. Reception to follow service. Private burial to take place at later date.
