John Frank Betik Thursday March 3rd 2022

Betik, John –
It is with great sadness, we have to announce the passing of John Frank Betik. John, in his 85th year, passed away at Eden House Care Facility after a lengthy battle with Alzheimers. The real cause of his passing was of a broken heart, as the love of his life, wife Myrna of 62 years, passed away two days before.
John was born October 16, 1936 in Alvinston, Ontario. John grew up with father Andrew (deceased) and mother Julia (deceased) on a farm in Alvinston with his siblings. Little did John know, a trip to Brights Grove would lead to being introduced to the love of his life Myrna.
John is survived by his sisters Margaret (Tony) Belak and Betty (Ron) Paolini, his brother Roy (Sandy) Betik, his daughter Lori (Rick) Roth , son David Betik, granddaughter Katie Roth, grandson Ryan Roth and many nieces and nephews.
John worked for Simpson Sears for many years and moved up the corporate ladder to eventually end up in Guelph to open the Sears store at the Stone Road Mall. After leaving Sears, John started a career in real estate which led to great success. This success paved his way to partnering up with a few fellow agents and opening Homelife Realty. Through his business sense and contacts, John became president of Southcreek Developments, which developed the subdivisions in the Kortright/Edinburgh area of Guelph. John’s accomplishments in the business world allowed him to semi-retire early, with his beautiful bride, and enjoyed 30 years in Port Charlotte, Florida during the winter months.
John was an avid fisherman. Stoney Lake held a special place in his heart. For many, many years John would head to Stoney Lake over the Victoria Day long weekend and battle his brother (Roy) and brother in- law (Ron) over who could land the most pickerel. John would have an unfair advantage because he would bring up his wife and children to help win the day. John also loved to golf. He was a member at The Cutten Club (now Cutten Fields) for decades where he made many lifelong friends. John also enjoyed his baseball. Played it as a young man and watched the Toronto Blue Jays whenever he could.
Rest in peace John … husband, father, grandfather and friend.
We will love you always and forever.
A special thank you to all the staff at Eden House Long Term Care for the comfort and care John
was given.
