John Alfred Felton November 9th 1940 December 27th 2022

Peacefully, surrounded by loving family, on Tuesday, December 27, 2022, at Fiddick’s Nursing Home, John Alfred Felton passed away at the age of 82. Beloved husband of the late Mary Felton. Loving father of Cathy (Greg) Campbell, Jeff (Karen) Felton, Robert Felton, and James (Tiffany) Felton. Cherished grandfather of Samantha (Dustin), Tara (Mike), Jace (Shaylyn), Dylan (Laura), Sam (Cass), Emily (Mark), Aiden, and Ashe. Dear brother of Richard (Nuala) Felton, and Eileen Toole and fortunate Brother-in-Law to George Loupos and Mary (nee Egan) Loupos. Predeceased by his parents Henry and Marion Felton, his Brothers-in-Law Frederick (Fred) Toole, James (Jim) Loupos, and Peter Loupos, and his Sister-in-Law Theresa Loupos. John will be missed by his many nieces, nephews, and great-grandchildren.
John took pride in being prepared. To ensure he was a burden to no one, John provided his Obituary to the Smith family in 2014. Much has happened since then. With respect to John, his humble and thoughtful approach did not do his life justice. His family has decided that he deserved more than he was willing to acknowledge and has taken the pen from this point forward. John was born in Sarnia to his wonderful parents, Henry and Marion, who are missed dearly by anyone who was blessed to have known them. Those who didn’t get to meet them in person, have learned about them through memories that shared by John and his two favourites, his siblings, Dick, and Eileen.
Through his life, John took pride in his work, both professionally and personally. To those who knew him, he was always “working”, but for John it wasn’t work, because he loved what he was doing, because of the people he was with. John began his work on the Felton farm, and ended his career as the Director of Information Technology at Lanxess. After his retirement, John found new ways to work. The jobs that he loved, included being active in the hockey community with Sarnia Minor Hockey Association, and the Bluewater Sharks hockey organization.
After his own kids were grown, you could still find John at the arena, where he made many great friends. John never saw anything as work.
Most important to him was seeing his kids, and his grandkids grow. He loved them with all of his being and spoke about each one of them with passion, while beaming with pride.
In 2008, John found a new job, his best buddy. John dedicated himself to his youngest Grandson, Ashe. If you were to ask John to do something, and he couldn’t it was almost always followed by; Ashe needs me, and I have to be there for him. They were best friends.
John was forever doing something to keep himself busy – washing a car, folding the perfect load of laundry, ensuring that his house was spotless, or lending an ear to anyone who he sensed needed someone to listen. He lived a life dedicated to helping whoever he could, whenever he could. He didn’t need to know you to be there for you.
John wanted people to be together, but refused to force it and did a wonderful job of hiding the fact that he was the catalyst of bringing people together. As the oldest sibling, John took it upon himself to make sure that everyone in his family, knew what was going on with everyone else. His mission was to make sure his family, knew they were family. John was proud to be a Felton, but his pride went beyond that. Toole, Loupos, Egan, Mickalko, Brennan, Davies, Mortier, Mathieu, Reardon, Lemon, and Clarke to name a few, were important names that helped shape John’s life. He cherished his relationships, and had respect for all.
Lastly, a name that the Felton family, in memory of John, has been added to the list – Fiddicks. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts, we will be forever grateful for the staff and residents who we now consider a part of our family. With you all there, it’s not a home, but home.
