Joe was born at the family farm in the Stenen District on September 4, 1931, the sixth of ten children born to Wasyl and Eva (née Strykowski) Kardynal.
He was raised on the family farm north of Stenen and attended Goodhue School.
As a young man, Joe helped out on the family farm. He then moved to Red Lake, Ontario where he worked at various mines in the surrounding area.
His love of farm life in Saskatchewan called him back. He then worked with the Feeley and Kardynal Farms of Preeceville. He saved his money to eventually purchase a parcel of land north of Stenen and then soon after he expanded his farming operation to where he currently resided up until his passing.
In 1960, he met and married June Dmytriw of Preeceville and they were blessed with three children, Andrea, Tammy and Dwayne.
Joe loved the farm life and all that it had to offer, and was still operating the combine at 90 years of age. He also enjoyed fishing, watching rodeo events and professional wrestling on TV. Joe enjoyed visiting with friends and family any chance he could. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and grandson playing, and sometimes cheating in card games and board games.
Joe often was seen with Wally, the family dog, at his side in the farm yard and always with a treat in hand.
He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Joe was predeceased by his parents, Wasyl and Eva; parents-in-law, William Dmytriw and Minnie Dmytriw; sisters, Ann Kozmeniuk, Mary Nelson, and Kay Kindratsky; brothers, Mike Kardynal and John Kardynal; sisters-in-law, Rose Kardynal and Ann Kardynal; brothers-in-law, Pete Kozmeniuk, Fred Nelson, Tony Kindratsky and Ed Kaminski; and niece, Pattie Nelson.
