Obituary
With sadness, we announce the passing of Jessie Eleanor Saunders which occurred at the Loch Lomond Villa Nursing Home on Saturday, August 13, 2022, 4 months shy of her 100th year. Born 1923 in Saint John, she was a daughter of the late Frank & Gladys (Johnson) Saunders.
For most of her working career, Jessie was a caregiver and found great joy tending to the needs of others. She took care of her mother for 20 years. Jessie enjoyed spending time at Reversing Falls and taking walks around the nature park. Jessie enjoyed cooking and in her spare time looked forward to gardening, knitting, and sewing.
Jessie is survived by her son Wayne Douglas, who she was always very supportive of. She is also survived by her sister; Thelma Saunders, nephews; Stanley, Charlie and Roy, niece; Mary (Dennis) Herbert of Louisiana.
In addition to her parents, Jessie is predeceased by her brothers; Burpey, Murray and George, sister Elva Saunders along with her nieces Marilyn and Gladys and nephews; Tommy and Paul.
Our family wishes to express our many thanks and appreciation to the staff of Elm House, including all RN’s, RNA’s, RA’s, Dietary and Housekeeping staff for the care and compassion shown towards Mom over the years.
Jessie was a very special angel; may God welcome her into his heavenly home.
In keeping with her wishes, arrangements have been entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, (506)-646-2424 and cremation has taken place. Family and friends are invited to gather on Thursday, August 18th, 2022 at 2:00 pm at St. Luke’s Anglican Church Cemetery (5 Quispamsis Road, Quispamsis, NB, E2E 1M2).
