Jeanne Ann Kremer 1935 2022

Jeanne Ann Kremer, age 87, of Horseheads, New York, died at home, surrounded by family on September 22, 2022. She was preceded in death by her husband, John D. Kremer, her mother and father, Dorothy Norrie and T. Kenneth Norrie and her brothers Thomas Norrie and Robert Norrie. She is survived by her six children: Steve Kremer (Eileen); Karen Seay (Brian); Mike Kremer (Kim); Joe Kremer (Julie); Jim Kremer; Anne Kremer (Ron Bijlsma); twenty grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, her siblings, Paul Norrie (Deborah), Michael Norrie, Catherine Norrie Wirtz (Daniel), Kenneth Norrie, sisters-in-law Donna Norrie and Katherine Norrie, and many nieces and nephews.
Jeanne grew up in Rochester, MN with her sister and four brothers. She loved roller skating, ice skating, reading, singing and acting. She met John, the love of her life, while still in high school. John won her heart in short order leading to a 65 year marriage and true love story. Their devotion to each other as they sailed through life together was inspirational to all who knew them.
Jeanne lived a life of service; she knew from an early age that she wanted to be a nurse. She entered the St. Mary’s School of Nursing and graduated in 1956. She only worked a short time before devoting her nursing skills to her six children.
In 1967 John and Jeanne moved to Horseheads, NY. Her commitment to serve others continued with volunteer work at the Elcor Nursing Home, and leading both a Girl Scout Troop and a Cub Scout Den. Jeanne had a strong commitment to her Catholic faith. She was a faithful member and volunteer at St. Mary Our Mother Church, singing in the Folk Group and the Resurrection Choir as well as serving in the Altar Rosary Society.
One of Jeanne’s greatest joys was spending time with her many friends. She loved hosting parties like gourmet club, bridge night, and the Red Hat Society meetings. Jeanne enjoyed biking, cross-country skiing, and long walks and exercise classes with her dear friend and neighbor, Joey Traver. She loved nothing more than sailing the lakes, seas, canals, and gulfs with John and so many close friends over the years.
Every year she looked forward to escaping the cold north to her Sabal Springs, Florida home. The warm, sunny winters would see her going on walks, attending exercise classes, playing Rummikub, and singing with the Sabal Springs choir. Watching the vibrant birdlife in the backyard pond would provide her the most joy in her home-away-from-home.
Jeanne practiced gratitude in her life, and right up until the very end she expressed how thankful she was to have lived such a full and amazing life with so many loving friends and family sharing her journey. As she said in her Kremer Kalendar every year, «We have been blessed.»
A special thanks goes out to those who helped care for Jeanne in her later years especially Bob and Joey Traver, Marcie Kremer, and her caregivers: Kelsi Squire, Beth Squire, Destiny FitzGerald, Holly Dailey, Vernnon Sullivan, Sierra Atwell, Breanna Sullivan, Maylyn Atwell, Miranda Atwell, Cindy Harvey, Wendy Squire.
A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
Arrangements are entrusted to the LYNCH FUNERAL HOME 318 WEST BROAD STREET HORSEHEADS, NY. Words of condolence and memories may be shared at www.lynchsfuneralhome.com
