Surrounded by the love of her family, Janice passed quietly from this world at the James Paton Memorial Health Centre, Gander on Thursday, March 17, 2022. She was 64.
Janice enjoyed life. She liked travelling, hiking, gardening, painting, and various other crafts (all of which she did well). Although she had been ill for some time she fought bravely and continued to do many of the things she loved right to the end. When talking on the phone became difficult, she found comfort in keeping in touch with family and friends via Facebook and Messenger.
She is predeceased by her father, John Edward Penny, and sister-in-law, Linda (Bill) Foote.
Left with broken hearts and a lifetime of memories are Neville, her devoted and loving husband of 42 years; her mother, Amy Penny; sisters Marjorie (Robert) and Carolyn (John); brother Ian (Kathy); sisters-in-law Karen (Gerry) and Ruth (Tom). She was a loving and much loved aunt of Rob (Scott), Ryan (Angela), Jeanna (Christopher), Daniel (Jacinda), Caitlin (Brad), Michael (Caitlin), Dale (Laurie), Greg (Lisa), Vanessa (Mike), Andrea (Heldar), Brent (Rosalind), Amy (Dane) and Pamela (Shawn). Her great – nieces and nephews Jay, Aaliyah, Owen, Kailee, Alyx, Rachel, Amelia, Aiden, Christopher, Cameron, Molly, Audrey, Olivia, Natalie, Amber, Felix, Stanley, and Penny; Hannah Babstock; Gavin, Mark and Nicole and their children Abigail, Cole, Maddie and Frankie held a special place in her heart. She will be sadly missed by all of them as well as by Uncle Al Mitchell and a large number of extended family and friends – especially Christine, Patsy and Murray, Susan, and Marina.
The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the emergency and medical staff of James Paton Memorial Hospital for their care during the past few weeks and especially for making it possible for Janice to spend the final two weeks at home where she wanted to be. Your kindness and compassion meant so much to her and her family.
Janice was an active member of her church community. In lieu of flowers donations in her memory can be made to Holy Cross Church, Eastport.
Arrangements entrusted to the care of Oram’s Funeral Home, Eastport, NL.
Visitation will take place at Oram’s Funeral Home, Eastport, on Saturday March 19 from 2:00 – 4:00 pm and 7:00 – 9:00 pm.
Funeral service will be held at Holy Cross Church, Eastport, on Sunday, March 20, 2022 at 2:00 pm.
The service is open to anyone wishing to attend.
Masking is required.
