It is with great sadness that the friends and chosen family of Jane Rudd (previously known as Peter Rudd) announce her passing on Friday, June 10, 2022 at the age of 81.
Jane was predeceased by her parents Ernest William Rudd and Agnes Rudd, sister Pauline and daughter Claire.
Jane is survived by her loving friend Julie Mitchell, her beloved daughter Jasmin Taylor, grandchildren and nephews.
Jane was born in York, England and came to Canada in 1966 to teach in Rose Valley, SK, and also taught a few years at Notre Dame. Jane started out teaching sciences, but later caught the acting bug and acted in some plays here in Regina and later taught drama in Red Deer, Alberta for some years. She was a good educator; past students have contacted her to thank her, for what she taught was how to live a good life.
Jane was a woman who pushed boundaries, tried new things and was often ahead of the pack. She went rock climbing in the Lake District in England as a youth, just ropes and hand tools, no safety nets. She caught the computer bug before many others, I remember the sound of dial up for internet access and not being able to use the phone for hours, she was an avid practitioner of Tai Chi and her last full set was in Wascana Park at the age of 80. She was also an avid swimmer and jogger. She loved music, especially Jazz, she liked reading or listening to audio books, loved art, and kept an eye on what was happening in the world watching the news from many corners of the world.
Jane spent most of her life as a male and transitioned to female in her 70’s. She said if this had been an option when she was younger she would have done so much earlier. With the transition she mellowed and seemed happier.
Jane prized honesty in relationships and most of all love. You will be missed sweetheart.
Private Celebration of Life will be held.
