Jacqueline Loretta Boyd Friday January 7th 2022

After a short time in hospital, we are sad to announce the passing of Jacqueline Boyd (Geretto) on January 7, 2022, at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre. She came in with shortage of breath and was diagnosed with pneumonia. It was noted that this was spread into her lungs. It was the worst kind. From being tested there wasn’t much that could be done for her.
Born in 1925 in Port Arthur, she had resided here for most of her life, moving to the southward in 1978. Adherent to St. Anthony’s Roman Catholic Church and had attended St. Joseph’s Separate School, Hillcrest High School and Adult Education at Confederation College.
During the war (WWll) she worked at the Canadian Car in the store division. After the war, she was employed by the T. Eaton Co. for many years; last fifteen in the record section (music).
In 1967, she returned to school and in 1968 was hired by the city of Port Arthur for the Parking Authority, she joined the Thunder Bay Police Dept. in 1974 working in the Court section (Records) until her retirement in 1989.
Jacqueline was a past member of St. Joseph’s Home and School, St. Anthony’s Church mixed bowling league, CUPE, the Thunder Bay Police Association and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 5.
She was fond of music, enjoyed talking with anyone from the younger generation to older one. She spent many hours talking to relatives and friends. She had a great sense of humour and could tell jokes with the best of them. She enjoyed many trips to Minneapolis to attend the Metropolitan Opera’s Co. performance until it ceased coming to Minneapolis. She enjoyed needle-point knitting, trips to Las Vegas (hit 3 royals on one machine) and Laughlin. She also enjoyed her trips to Grand Portage Casino. She also travelled extensively in British Columbia, starting in Kelowna (Carmela), Vancouver and Victoria where she had family and dear friends.
She was predeceased by her parents John and Anna Geretto, brother Emil Geretto, sistesr Leah Siciliano, Marie Geretto, Annette (John) Mascotto, and niece Jeannine Mascotto, nephews Jerome and Bernie Mascotto and great nephew Roy Mascotto.
Survived by son Rodney (at home), nephews David Mascotto, Tommy Mascotto (Detriot), Lorenzo (Pat) Mascotto, Bill (Jen Jen) Mascotto, Lawrence Siciliano, Frankie Siciliano (Sask.) and Marie (Howard) Smith (Vancouver, B.C.), nieces Eleanor, Kelly Vos (Eric), Jennifer (Will) Abbott and Crystal (Josh) Waterman.
A special thank you to the doctors, especially the nurses (Sabrina, Melissa, Grace, and Elisa) B3 and C3 for showing compassion and care during her stay at the TBRHSC. Also, a very special thank you to Linda, Tracy and Noella for taking care of my mother in good and bad times (St. Elizabeth Care Group).
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 13, 2022, in the chapel of Sargent and Son Funeral Home, 21 N. Court St., with Rev. Luigi Filippini officiating.
