Isabel Lillian (Hicks)
Dwyer, age 89, of Maccan, NS passed away at the
Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre on June 1, 2022.
Born in Midgic, NB, on May 12, 1933 she
was the loving daughter of the late Herman and Fanny
Demont.
Isabel‘s first job was working
at Sifto Salt Mines and though she only stayed for a couple of years
she did develop lifelong friendships, as was a common occurrence for
her.
By this time Isabel was a busy mother
and was able to find employment at the Paramont Theatre, where she
continued to work for 38 years. During this time she worked five
nights a week and was able to care for her growing family during the
day. Many would consider that to be a full plate but not Isabel. In
addition she was a door to door sales person for Avon. Many people we
believe ordered Avon so they could have a regular visit with
Isabel.
Finally she was Maccan’s local
hairstylist, her cuts were great and her prices even better. So you
would think all this provided her with enough to do but oh no, in the
summers she would drag us out to the blueberry fields to rake
blueberries. Every year when she finished blueberry season there was a
room in the house that needed renovating. Isabel also had a passion
for renovations and a knack for decorating. The word lazy was never
spoken in a sentence when talking about her.
In addition to all the above she raise
six children and adopted, through love, a seventh. Isabel
should have been named Mum at birth as that was her true passion and
it extended to family and friends.
Isabel is survived by daughters Vicky
McLeod of Maccan, Eileen Hopper (Paul) of Amherst, Lisa Gould (Randy)
of Truro; sons Raymond (Bonnie) St.Peter of Amherst, Steven Dwyer
(Mary Lou) of Brookdale, Barry Dwyer of River Hebert and Albert Dwyer
(Karen)of Maccan. In addition she survived by her loving grandchildren
Kate Campbell, Pam Bezena, Stephanie Smith, Jared Dwyer, Michael
Dwyer, Morgan Richard, Nicole O’Donnell, Robyn McLeod,
Brandy McLeod, Tyler McLeod, Bradley Hopper, Christopher
Dwyer-Perkins, 18 great grandchildren and 3 great great
grandchildren.
Besides her parents, Isabel is
predeceased by her loving husband Albert Dwyer Sr, sister Kathleen
Simms, daughter in law Gloria Dwyer, granddaughter Sheri Lei and many
other aunts, uncles relatives and friends.
Arrangements are under the care and
supervision of Jones Family Funeral
