Pointe-du-Chêne, NB – Cameron Morrin Murphy, 86, passed away suddenly at his residence, on June 18, 2022.
He was the son of the late Robert Morrin and the late Ida Mae Murphy (Cameron).
Cameron will be greatly missed by his close friend and companion: Bernice Hebert of Moncton; his children: Marilyn Irene Murphy of Valleyview, AB, Cameron Morrin Murphy Jr. (Sherry) of Shediac NB and Shawn Lee Murphy (Angela) of Fredericton NB; his grandchildren: Lee (Carly) of Alberta, John (Molly) of Alabama, Brandon (Dana) of Alberta, Anthony of NB, and Courtney (Nathan) of NS; his great grandchildren:
Darby, Kamryn, Josephine, Rachel, Rhyder, Mirric, Lincoln and Arabella; his sister-in-law: Anne; also by several nieces and nephews.
Cameron was predeceased by his loving wife of 60 years: Mary Louise Murphy (Vidito); his daughter: Cathy Olena Mae Murphy; his brothers: Bob, Donnie (Thelma) and Edgar (Marg).
For those who had the pleasure of meeting Cam Sr, you know how much of a nice man and “people person” he was. He absolutely loved meeting people and sharing stories with family and friends. Total strangers soon became close friends. He was always happy, and he could often be heard singing his favorite songs.
Cam Sr spent 20 memorable years as an accomplished Airframe Technician in the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) at the rank of Corporal. He was awarded the Canadian Forces Decoration and NATO Decoration. Postings included Shearwater NS, Greenwood NS, Comox BC and several overseas duties which took him to the countries of Germany and Scotland. He has cranked wrenches and turned screwdrivers on multiple Canadian Forces aircraft to include the CF-86 Sabre, CF-101 Voodoo, and CP-107 Argus. He was very proud of his service which could be seen by the flying of the Canadian and RCAF flags on his property.
After repairing and shining aircraft in the RCAF, he began shining diamonds with G.B. Murphy Jewellers, Mappins, and La Mine d’Or. His exceptional people person skills allowed him to become a highly respected manager and top notch salesman within the jewelry business. Interacting with people was a perfect fit when he was asked to be a customer greeter at the Big Stop restaurant in Salisbury. He often joked that he couldn’t believe that he was getting paid to talk with people; his perfect retirement job. During retirement Cam and Mary could be found Snowbirding for some 15 years in their 5th wheel.
Cam Sr’s wishes were to not have a funeral however, the family will have a small Graveside Service at the Lakeside cemetery in Lakeville, NB where Cam and Mary’s ashes will rest together.
