ASHCROFT, Ina (nee: James) Passed away surrounded by the love of her family, on Friday, July 15th, 2022 at 95 years of age. She is now reunited with her beloved husband William and her parents, Olive and William James. Loving mother of Nancy Judge (Ralph), Cheryl Vicary (Dave Amadio), Joslyn Pollock (Allan) and Bill Ashcroft (Bonnie Pearson). Cherished grandmother of Kristen Rochon (Martin), Kelly Reid, Greg Judge (Jennifer), Patrick Boles, Jeremy Pan (Jeraldina Selinger), Jessica Pan (Jagger Macara), Justin Pan, William Ashcroft (Cecilia) and Drake Ashcroft (Tiffany). Beloved Great-Grandmother of Luke, Callum, Evan, Ava, James, Nicholas, Sophia, Christopher, Shannon and Jack.
Ina is survived by her brother Russell (Marilyn), and pre-deceased by her sisters Alice, Frances, Muriel, Violet, Colleen and brothers Kenneth, Cecil and Clifford. She also enjoyed close relationships with sisters-in-law Yvonne James and Donna James.
Ina was born in Welland and lived her entire 95 years as a proud “Wellander”. Home and family were everything to her. Her children remember their mom for her quick wit, vivid imagination, the poetry she wrote, the art she created and her love of nature.
Ina’s life was enriched by the friendship and care of Esmeta Bradshawe who was her constant companion, dancing partner and spiritual soulmate over the past few years.
The family is grateful for the excellent and compassionate care provided by members of the Local Health Integration Network and St. Elizabeth.
The family will receive their friends at the H. L. Cudney Funeral Home, 241 West Main Street, Welland on Wednesday, July 20th, 2022, 6 p.m.– 7 p.m. Followed by a chapel service at 7 pm. A private family interment will take place at Pleasantview Memorial Gardens. Memorial donations in Ina’s memory may be made to either the Canadian Cancer Society or Habitat for Humanity.
