Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother Ileen Lauridsen, on November 4. 2022 in Fairview, Alberta.
Mom was born in Saskatchewan on the Thunderchild Reserve to Fred and Beatrice Starnes. She was the oldest of ten children. The family moved to Worsley in 1949 and stayed there for next couple of years where she worked for the Taylor family as a care giver, before completing the LPN course and going to work at the Beaverlodge hospital.
Ileen met and married Len Lauridsen on November 2, 1953 and moved to Peace River, where they welcomed their first four children. Rita, Stan, Tanis and Guy.
In 1962 the family moved to High Level and our sister Tracy joined the family. In 1970 we moved to Hay River and our last sibling Darcy was born. In 1977 Mom and Dad moved back to High Level and became hobby farmers which kept them busy until they retired in 1997 and moved to Grimshaw for the last leg of their journey through life. Over the years we all ended up in different parts of the country and Mom continued to be the hub of our family and kept everyone up on all family activities. The weekly up dates will be sadly missed..
Mom worked at many different jobs over the years but her time at the post office was her favorite. She also loved gardening and had a raspberry patch which we all waited to come to fruit every year. She was a member of the United Church and was involved in many church functions over the years. As well as working as a volunteer for the MS society working at the Legion for bingo and other fundraisers.
Ileen is survived by her children Rita Schofield, Tanis (Brad) Seewald, Guy Lauridsen, Tracy (Dave) Wilson and Darcy (Kristie) Lauridsen.
Siblings – Joyce Pollock, Shirley Rombs (Lawrence), Faye King, Jean Kallal, Fred(Arleen) Starnes, Linda Els, Mary(Norm) Beaucage, and Russell(Mary) Starnes.
Grand Children- Darrin (Kristie), Trina (Vern), Michael (Corrine), Aron (Amy), Carla(Chris), Kerry (Treena), Myles, Cheryl (Shane), Shawn, Jessica (Darcy) and Allie.
Great Grand Children – Logan, Chloe, Nora, Sylvia, Jared, Keesha, Jaycen, Krystal, Kelly, Hailey, Aryka, Sophia, Jake, Ariana, Dyllan, Jacee, Lucas and Charlotte
Great Great Grand children – Dean, Sophia
Ileen was predeceased by her parents Fred and Beatrice Starnes her loving husband Len, son Stan, brother Henry, and many other family and friends.
