Obituary of Ian MacDougall
August 18, 1933 – August 1, 2022
Ian passed away peacefully on August 1, 2022, in Waterloo, ON with his family by his side at 88 years old.
Predeceased by his loving and devoted wife Joan MacDougall of 61 years. Loving father of Lynn Pavlik and her husband Patrick of Waterloo, ON, and Heather Stanton and her husband Bruce of Coldwater, ON. Sadly, missed by his grandchildren Natalie and Julia Pavlik, Valerie and Lauren Stanton. Heather’s stepchildren Stephanie and Jason Stanton. Survived by his sister Margie Boudreau and her husband Cyril of Halifax, NS. Ian will be fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by his parents Ralph and Gertrude MacDougall of Halifax, NS and son, Richard Ian MacDougall, in infancy. Predeceased by his sisters and brothers, Lorne, Betty, Jean, Lois, Bill, and Bob.
Ian graduated from Nova Scotia Technical College, now Dalhousie University, in association with Saint Mary’s University in Halifax, NS with his Bachelor of Electrical Engineering in 1957. Ian married Joan after graduating and moved to Ontario to begin his career and their life together. He worked as an Electrical Engineer for 43 years, the last 30 years through to retirement (2000) with Stone and Webster Canada Limited.
Our deepest gratitude to the wonderful nurses, personal support workers, doctors, and many support staff that cared so much for Dad at University Gates LTC, Waterloo, ON. Also, thank you to the doctors and nurses at Grand River Hospital, Waterloo, ON who cared for Dad so well.
