Passed away peacefully in the Palliative Care Unit of Sunnybrook Hospital.
lan, born in Ottawa, was the son of the late Francis Holbrook Badgley.
He will be greatly missed by his loving mother Sheila Kappele, his brother Andrew Badgley, Andrew’s wife Victoria and their children Charlotte and Daniel. Ian was predeceased by his step father Jim Kappele.
He will be remembered fondly by his Aunt Pamela Nuth and cousins Antony(Jennifer) and Rebecca Nuth of Ottawa as well as by long-time family friend David MacLean.
A Graduate of Ryerson’s Chemical Engineering program as well as Humber College’s Computer Programming program, Ian’s love of technology ensured he was always surrounded by the steady hum of many computers and servers that he built and lovingly maintained.
Ian could always be counted on to liven up a dinner conversation with a uniquely applicable quote from The Sopranos or Game of Thrones. He was also the first to learn about – and share with the rest of us – stories of the latest mishaps from politicians in the US or Canada, no matter their political stripe. A lifelong hockey fan, Ian once proudly landed a job by telling the interviewer that he really missed Don Cherry.
Ian struggled with his health for many years but never let it get him down, never complained, and lived by the mantra, “never ever give up”.
