Hynes – It is with great sadness
that we announce the sudden and unexpected passing of Herbert
«Bert» Hynes, on Saturday, June 5, 2022, aged 94 years. Bert
was born on November 3rd, 1927, in St. Brendan’s, Bonavista Bay,
Newfoundland, the son of the late William and Mary Catherine
Hynes. He was predeceased by his wife, Geraldine (Myrick)
2017, daughter Anne Marie (M.D.) 2009, and six siblings Greg, Rita,
Gerard, Frank, Bella, and Ron. He leaves to mourn, two sons:
Gerard and Barry (Angela), and one daughter: Gerri (Paul) Musgrove,
and his loving granddaughters: Sarah and Emma.
Bert had a long and distinguished career with Transport
Canada working 38 years between Air Services and Canadian Coast Guard.
He started his career in Cape Race where he met Geraldine and after
their marriage, they moved to Flower’s Island in the Strait
of Belle Isle, Newfoundland. He subsequently became the
Telecommunications Area Manager at the St. John’s Airport
and later was promoted to Regional Manager with the Canadian Coast
Guard. He was always active in his church, particularly with St.
Paul’s Church in Summerside, and St. Pius X Church in St.
John’s, Newfoundland.
The Hynes family wishes to thank Dr. Morash, nurse Jennifer
in emergency and all staff at the Prince County Hospital who were so
kind and helpful during his brief time at the hospital.
A special thanks to Ed Matthews, John Butler and Urban
Arsenault for your kindness and friendship to our dad over the years,
it meant the world to him. Also, to Mary Picard, Linda
Affleck and Mac MacDonald for continually looking in on Dad after
mom’s passing. Your kindness and generosity have
been greatly appreciated.
Bert is resting at Moase Funeral Home, Summerside, with
visitation being held Thursday, June 9th, from
4pm to 6pm. The Funeral Mass will be held at 11a.m., Friday,
June 10th at St. Paul’s

Interment following the Mass at St. Paul’s Cemetery.
