His fight is over, Henry was called home to Glory, to cross the Jordan into the arms of his Saviour on Saturday, August 27, 2022. Loving husband to Judy for 48 years; cherished father to Karen & Paul Koomans, Rebecka & Garry Punt, Sarah & Dan Huizing, and Amy & Abraham Roza; beloved grandpa to Brandon & Tamara, Victoria & Spencer, Dean & Lerika, Natalie, Carter, Olivia, Leo, Easton, Georgia, Scarlett, and Taylor. Dear brother to Joanne Bork (the late John), Gary (Gerda), Patricia Pilon (Clyde), Christina Wolski, Harry (Lynn), Dianne Chantler (the late Bob), Rita Ripley (Rick), Johnny (Elaine), Jerry (Trish) and sisters-in-law Gretta Buzeman (Herman) and Thea Heyink; and predeceased by his siblings Bill, Minnie, and John. He will be sadly missed by many work colleagues & friends.
Henry started his first company, Henry Heyink Excavating in 1979. He wasn’t afraid of hard work and taking a few risks which led him to become such an avid businessman, character traits that he passed on to his family. He had a deep-rooted love for his family, church and Chatham Kent community. Henry’s 17 year battle with cancer was full of ups and down, but through it all he never gave up and always was thankful for God’s provisions.
Sincere thank you Dr. McCullough, Dr. McKenzie, Mary Beth, the nursing and support staff that cared for Henry through the years.
Family and friends are welcome at Eben-Ezer Canadian Reformed Church (483 McNaughton Ave E, Chatham, ON, N7L 2H2) on Tuesday, August 30, 2022 from 2-4 & 6-9 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at Eben-Ezer Canadian Reformed Church on Wednesday, August 31st at 10:30 a.m. with burial to follow at Maple Leaf Cemetery (55 Maple Leaf Drive).
For those who are unable to attend in person, the service will be livestreamed on the church YouTube channel.
