Hector’s Obituary
COMEAU, Hector J.
Born in Comeauville on September 8, 1935, Hector was a son of the late Gustave and Emilda (Doucet) Comeau. At 87 years of age, he passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Wednesday, November 30, 2022.
Loving husband, father and grand-father, Hector leaves to mourn his loving wife of 64 years, Zita, and his two sons, Martin “Zap” Comeau, Meteghan Station and Austin (Louise Anne) Comeau, Cocagne NB. He also leaves three grandsons who were his pride and joy, Sebastien Comeau, Christrian Comeau and Simon Comeau.
Hector and Zita met and married in Toronto and shortly thereafter returned to Meteghan where they raised their family and owned and operated many businesses including the first Red & White store and the Bluefin Hotel. Many knew him as “Hector de Sunlife” where he built a successful career.
A pillar in his community and family, Hector devoted much time to his parish, and development of his community. An ardent volunteer in the church community, he supported many church picnics and events. He was a member of multiple service clubs, councils, committees in the community development groups including CBDC, Chamber of Commerce and Credit Union.
In his younger days, Hector could be found hunting, 4-wheeling or biking with his group of friends, on a ski hill with his sons or golfing with his wife.
Youngest of the family, he leaves his sister, May Comeau, Boston. He was predeceased by his brothers, Louis and Normand, and sisters, Claudette, Claire and Corinne.
He will be deeply missed by many.
Funeral Arrangements have been entrusted to Meteghan Funeral Home. A funeral mass will take place on Saturday, December 3rd at 10:30 am in Stella Maris Church, Meteghan with Rev. Hospice Akoffodji officiating. A reception will follow in Meteghan Fire Hall.
