Hazel’s Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, Hazel Marie (Gaudet) Dugas, age 84, in Yarmouth Regional Hospital on Monday, October 10, 2022. She was a daughter of the late Pierre and Regina (Boudreau) Gaudet, born on April 14, 1938.
Hazel was predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Maurice; brothers, Herman, Delbert, Gilbert and Clifford; also an infant sister, Bernice; and her sister, Rosalie “Rosie”.
Hazel is survived by her children, Carol (Marcel), Carmen (Ruth), Kevin (Linda), Terry (Patricia); sisters, Cecile, Doris (Hebert). Hazel is also survived by her grandchildren, Laetitia, Luc, Simon, Emily and Jacob; her great-grandchildren, Laura and Connor. She leaves behind her bestie and companion, Molly; and many nieces and nephews.
Our mom worked at Clare Gold & Country Club for 32 years where she made many friends. It was here that she introduced golf to her three boys. It was a very proud moment when her son, Kevin, was inducted to the N.S. Sports Hall of Fame and more recently to the P.G.A. of Atlantic Canada Hall of Fame. She took pride in her family. We will remember her for her humour, her kindness and her famous “eatmore bars.” Her family and friends will miss her dearly.
The family would like to thank VON, EHS paramedics, the staff and doctors of Yarmouth Regional Hospital for the compassion and kindness showed to our mother. A special thank you to Dr. Dow for the excellent care given to our mom and a special thank you to Meteghan Funeral Home.
As per her wishes, a graveside service will take place at a later date.
Donations in her memory can be made to a charity of your choice.
