Obituary of Harry Vollrath Thimian
At the Hamilton General Hospital on July 3rd, 2022 with his loving wife and family at his side in his 90th year. He was born in Hamburg, Germany on November 21, 1932, and came to Canada in 1955, where he fell in love with this country immediately. He will be greatly missed by his beloved wife, Lilli Thimian (nee Lange); his children: Judie Ute Thimian-Chaput (Larry), Bernie Thimian, Herbie Thimian, and Monika Thimian-Sullivan (Dan); grandchildren: Jordan, Justin, Kyle, Rachel (predeceased) and Dillon. He was predeceased by his parents and sisters (Gertrude and Ruth). He will also be missed by many friends and family. He was a small business master craftsman upholsterer, who also enjoyed teaching this skill at night school at Mohawk College. A long-time resident of Twenty Place in Mount Hope, he was very involved in billiards, table tennis and bocce ball. He enjoyed the rustic Canadian outdoors, going to his cottage and fishing. For many years he was the organizer of the Hamilton area table tennis for the CANUSA games and a local club. Friends will be received at the Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek, on Wednesday from 5-8 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held at Mission Baptist Church, 100 North Oval, Hamilton, on Thursday, July 7th at 1 p.m. Interment to follow in Woodland Cemetery.
