It is with the deepest regret and sadness that we announce the passing of our mom, Irene Gray. She passed away peacefully on July 28, 2022 surrounded by family.
Born and raised in Gilbert Plains, Manitoba, Irene moved west after high school, eventually settling in Edmonton, Alberta. Here she met her soul mate Bill Gray. They went on to raise four rambunctious children and moved from the city to the farm near Fort Saskatchewan to give them space to roam. There were many whose lives she touched and many who saw her as a second Mom.
She enjoyed many years working at the Bank of Montreal and made many lasting relationships over her life. She enjoyed gardening, baking, knitting, curling and watching hockey. Above all, she cherished her family. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were her greatest joy and she delighted in watching them at their many activities.
Irene is now back with husband Bill who predeceased her in 2009. She is survived by her children Ian (Darlene), Bob (Carmen), Jim (Diane) and Heather (Frank), 7 grandchildren Scott (Glenda), Erin (Paul), Kaylie (Tim), Ethan, Thomas (Elizabeth), Evan (Megan), and Colin and 7 great grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held Sunday August 21 from 1-5 at the Lions Mane room at the Dow Centennial Centre in Fort Saskatchewan.
The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at the Lamont Health Care Centre for their exceptional care and compassion in Mom’s last days.
In lieu of flowers or gifts, donations may be made to the Lamont Health Care Centre.
