Grant Thomas Russell of Miramichi, N.B. passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday Nov 26th, 2022. He will be greatly missed by family including his parents Gordon & Nancy (MacLean) Russell. He is the youngest brother of Craig (Christina Metcalf) and Scott (Aundrea Holmes). A special uncle to Andie Grace and Owen Graham and a companion to his loyal cat, Kole.
Being diagnosed at 4 1/2 years of age with Duchene’s Muscular Dystrophy, his illness and wheelchair did not define him. With his determination and the care from his parents, Grant defied the odds.
Grant loved having a crowd of family and friends around. He enjoyed stories told by old friends. He found new recipes for his mom to make regularly and closely supervised and planed outside projects for his dad to attend to. Besides family his biggest love was construction, discussing it and watching new buildings going up brought great enjoyment to Grant. His room was dedicated to his beloved Leafs and he would always «bet» on Toronto.
Grant is also survived by aunts: Margie Legere (Peter) and Carol Porter (Dr. James); uncle: Brian MacLean (Sheena); cousins: John, James, Jennifer, Alison, Christopher, Daniel, Erica, David, Kenneth, and Ryan.
Grant was predeceased by grandparents: Douglas and Jennie Russell and Harold and Jennie MacLean, aunt and uncle Ann and George Mattatall.
The family will receive visitors at Bell’s Funeral Home on Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM. The Funeral Service will be held from St. James and St. John United Church on Thursday, December 1, 2022, with Rev. Alice Szemök officiating. Burial will take place in Miramichi Cemetery at a later date.
