BRENNAN, Glen Morris passed away peacefully in his sleep at home in Newmarket on Sunday, October 23rd. He was 71.
Glen was a cherished and loving soulmate to his wife Beverly (nee Boocock) for 37 years. Proud, dependable, and thoughtful father to Courtney (Damien) and Sean (Laura). Goofy new grandpa to his “Goober” Fiona. Caring and compassionate brother to Dave (Kay), Donna (Rick), and Gail. Nose-stealing fun-uncle to Gillian, Julie, Erin, and Chris. Wonderful friend to many. Dear son of the late Almer and Janet Brennan.
Born in Whitehorse, Yukon, Glen grew up an air force “brat” in cities all across Canada, including Edmonton, Alberta; Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan; Trenton, Ontario; and Greenwood, Nova Scotia. His siblings remember him as a funny big ole bear who cared deeply and listened unconditionally. Not just a brother, but a best friend who always had time for them. He graduated with a BA from Carleton University and a B.Ed and M.Ed from the University of Toronto. Glen was a counsellor, teacher, and superintendent in Fort Albany and Sioux Lookout, and a dedicated civil servant with Indigenous and Northern Affairs Canada for over 35 years.
Glen spent his retirement travelling the world with his love Bev, from the British Isles to China, spending extra time in his favourite locales of Venice, St. Maarten, and Hawaii. A prolific model plane craftsman and artist, Glen used his talent to create beautiful and meaningful recreations to honour his family’s service in the Royal Canadian Air Force. His proudest moments were his marriage and the birth of his children. His family will remember him as a creative cook and team parent extraordinaire with a heart of gold.
A lover of silly cards and bad jokes, Glen was a firm believer in the sage adage “You can pick your friends and you can pick your nose, but you can’t pick your friend’s nose.” He was a wonderful, one-of-a-kind, moose of a man who will be greatly missed.
Open house Celebration of Life to be held at his home on what would have been his 72nd birthday, Monday, November 7th from 1:00 to 7:00. Virtual memorial to take place from 11:00 to 1:00 at zoom link to be added when available.
