KAY, Patricia « Pat » Gladys Kay (neé Metcalf, neé Monnelly)
23rd January 1936 to 26th November 2022
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Pat on the 26th of November 2022 at the Woodlands of Sunset home, Welland at the age of 86. Dearly loved Mum to Janette Prescott (Trevor), Christine McMillan (David), Sheila Smith (Mark) and devoted Nan to her grandchildren, Christopher, Barry (Stephanie), Andrew (Vanessa), Clare (Christopher), Louise (Jason), Neil (Amanda), Denise (Daniel), Richard (Hope) and great-grandchildren. Cherished sister to Mary (Jack), Angela, Veronica, Norah (Wilf), Frances, Helen, Margaret (Peter) and sister-in-law Trish. Fondly remembered by her many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Pat was predeceased by her husband(s) Walter Metcalf and Archibald Kay; her parents Andrew Monnelly and Gladys Monnelly (neé Lawrence), siblings Celia, Teresa, Christina, Andrew, Paul and brother-in-law’s Kenneth, Thomas, John, James and Hal.
Pat was born in St. Helens, Lancashire, England and decided late in life to emigrate to Canada to be with her much loved daughters and grandchildren. She will be greatly missed for her love, sense of humour, generosity, and kindness to others. Good Night and God Bless.
The family wishes to extend a sincere thank you to all staff on Pines Unit at Woodlands of Sunset, for their care during Pat’s final stage of dementia.
Honouring Pat’s wishes, a Requiem Mass will be celebrated in St. Kevin’s RC Church, 303 Niagara Street, Welland on the 1st December 2022 at 1:30 pm, followed by a reception for family and friends held at the Canadian Legion, 141 Hwy 20, Fonthill. A private family interment will take place on a later date. The Mass may also be viewed via live stream by going to the funeral home’s Facebook page the day of the service.
