Obituary
Gillian passed peacefully away Sunday morning, February 6, surrounded by her loving family. She was predeceased by her father Vince Fleming, grandparents; Pauline and William Fleming, Wesley Thomas, and Stanley Best, and uncles; Terry Thomas, Don Fleming and Albert Fleming.
Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are her loving mom and dad Cynthia and Tommy Penney, stepmother Debbie Fleming and grandmother Shirley Best. Gillian had many siblings that loved her dearly: Tammy Halleran, Lisa (Andrew) King, Phillip (Diana) McDonald, Juanita (Wayne) Francis, MaryAnn Penney (Bill McGowen), Curtis Penney (Michelle Fowler), Tammy Penney, Dennis (Yvonne) Fleming, Wendy Fleming and Andrew Fleming, brother-in-law Keith Halleran. Gillian was a loving and special aunt to many children, and is fondly remembered by special friends Mike Lane, Stephanie Paquette, Sharon Estey and Korena Nash, among others. Also left to mourn are many more uncles, aunts, family and friends of the Thomas, Fleming and Penney families.
Her family is forever grateful for the extraordinary care, kindness, and compassion shown to Gillian by all her caregivers throughout her life, as well as the nurses and doctors of the emergency department,
ICU, and CCU of the Health Sciences Center.
She was her mom’s sweet baby girl and the light of our lives. We will love and miss her forever. In Gillian’s words, “Today, I choose to be happy.”
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at Our Lady Of Mount Carmel Church, Mount Carmel, SMB. on Thursday, June 30, 2022 from 2:00 pm – 8:00 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, July 1, 2022 at 10:00 am with interment to follow at Our Lady Of Mount Carmel Cemetery, SMB.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Gillian’s memory may be made to the Janeway Children’s Hospital.
