It is with heavy hearts the family of Gerry Nickerson announce his passing December 4, 2022, at the age of 81. Gerry passed peacefully on his own terms, surrounded by his family at Ed’s House Northumberland Hospice. He leaves behind his cherished wife, Annette Nickerson (nee: Gaudet) of 59 years. Words can barely describe the love Gerry held for Annette. In March they would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. Together, Gerry and Annette raised their three children, whom they were immensely proud of. Gerry will be deeply missed by his children Shelley (Paul) Bedard, Stephen (Beth) Nickerson and Wendy (Mark) Ito. Beloved grandfather to Amber (Paul) Norman, Kristen (Peter) Reid, Andrew (Summer Morrison) Bedard, Amanda (Kyle) Chinnery, Jessica (Riley Herechuck) Nickerson, Lindsay (Aaron Hunter) Nickerson, Taylor (Kyle Mountenay) Nickerson, Justin (Katie Ellis) Vandekemp, Kylie (Matt Coolen) Ito and Kathryn Ito. Loved great-grandfather to Carson, Reegan, Mason, Charlie, Liam, George, River, Kolton, Hunter, Scarlett, and Rory. Gerry was incredibly excited to become a great-grandfather once again to not one, but two more great grandchildren in the near future. Son of the late William and Viola Nickerson. He will be deeply missed and forever cherished by his brothers, sisters, his nieces, nephews, great- nieces and great nephews. He loved his family, and his family loved him. The family would like to extend their utmost gratitude to all of the staff of the Northumberland Hills Hospital and Ed’s House Hospice for the ongoing care and compassion that they provided to Gerry in his final days. Also, thank you to Dr. Xi for all the guidance. Gerry was surrounded by angels every day, which made his final time here peaceful. As per Gerry’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will take place in the Spring/Summer of 2023. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Ed’s House Northumberland Hospice Care Centre or the Northumberland Hills Hospital Foundation.
