It is with profound sadness, that the family of Gary Conrad Clausen, announce that he passed away with his loving wife by his side, at their home on August 6, 2022 after a courageous battle against cancer,
He was born on December 2, 1946 in Vancouver, BC. At an early age he moved to Dryden, Ontario where he met the love of his life Patricia “Pat” Moody. Gary and Pat married on July 19, 1967 and then started building their life in Fruitvale, BC. Together they had three children; Cathy (Blair), Dary and Kerry (Tom).
Gary started his career in BC at Cominco and then retired after 30+ years. During the summers Gary and Pat made many trips to Ontario and Vancouver Island to visit family. One of his biggest hobbies was creating and building beautiful woodworking projects. Countless numbers of his creations were for his family, but many went to others in the community. He took great pride in taking care of his chickens and kept them on a tight schedule. Some of his grandchildren’s fondest memories are the many camping trips they took, especially to Garland Bay and Lost Ledge. The family will be forever grateful for all the quality time Gary and Pat spent with the great-grandchildren in the most recent years.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 55 years, son and daughter, 7 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Sadly 20 short days prior to his passing he was predeceased by his daughter, Cathy.
A small private family service will be held at a later date. Andreas Schmitz of Alternatives Funeral and Cremation Services™ has been entrusted with arrangements.
