It is with immense gratitude and
love that we will cherish the countless moments spent with you – our
devoted mother, affectionate grandmother and tender
great-grandmother
Gabrielle
LALONDE
(née
Lacourse)
1st September 1931 – 11th
December 2022
Mom was finally reunited with her
late husband, Bruno Lalonde and their children who left too soon –
Sylvie-Andrée and Jean-Dominique; her parents Godfroy and
Juliette Lacourse, her sisters and brothers Gertrude,
Adèle, Jean-Marie, Rita, Paul-Emile, Georges-Henri,
François, Rodolphe and Monique (Trottier).
She is survived by her children who
accompanied her to her last breath, their families and those of her
grandchildren:
Nathalie Lalonde-Pataki (Dennis and
their children Emilie, Allissa, Celina and Dylan)
Jean-Frédéric
Lalonde (Mélanie and their children Karina,
André and Julianna)
Sophie-Anne Lalonde-Leblanc (Windy
Exantus and their son Zakaï)
Véronique
Lalonde-Leblanc
AND
her sisters
Marie-Thérèse (Fitzback) and Jacqueline
(Racette), her brother Louis, her sister-in-law Madeleine
Paillé, her dear godchildren, the joyful CLANdestin, her
many (great) nieces and nephews and finally, her dear friends –
including Rachel Clair, who has been faithful throughout this last
journey.
Mom was a passionate teacher before
devoting herself fully to her family, setting up nests in Hull
& Ottawa, Charlesbourg (QC) and Fredericton (NB). She enjoyed
her community involvement, serving seniors through the Red Cross and
sick children at Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital. Gabrielle was a loyal
volunteer at the annual music festival and dedicated much energy for
the French parish Ste-Anne des Pays-Bas, serving on various committees
and associations – including the Association
Canado-Américaine (ACA). She also enjoyed arts and crafts
over the years (weaving, batik & painting) and fulfilled an
appetite by auditing art history and music courses at UNB and
committing her time as a docent at the Beaverbrook Art
Gallery.
Gabrielle enjoyed her swims and
daily walks and her increasingly reduced mobility boosted her appetite
for reading (exhausting the Marguerite Michaud Library’s inventory!),
playing cards with dear friends and recounting countless
tales.
The family would like to thank the
professional teams at Shannex and the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital in
Fredericton who provided her care.
A religious tribute and celebration
of life will be held next summer in her home parish of St. Joseph,
followed by burial at Notre-Dame Cemetery in Ottawa.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be
