The passing of Frederick «David»
Burgess, 74 years, occurred peacefully at the Grand
Manan Nursing Home, Grand Manan, NB, on Friday, October 14, 2022. Born
in Springhill, NS, on Sunday, March 21, 1948, he was a son of the late
Frederick and Della (Fisher) Burgess.
Prior to retirement, David worked in various sectors in both
Nova Scotia and Ontario and was known to be a hard and dedicated
worker. He relocated to Grand Manan roughly 10 years ago to enjoy his
retirement and to be closer to his son Dave. An avid outdoorsman,
David loved fishing or just being out in the woods. Known as a road
runner, David also loved to travel and one of his favourite trips was
a six week road trip to Alaska where he stopped everywhere he could
along the way to see the sites.
A loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother,
David is survived by his children; Dave Burgess (Lenora Guptill),
Grand Manan, NB, David Burgess, Daniel Burgess and Donnie MacDonald
all of Ontario; Patricia Burgess (Tim Baker), Springhill Junction, NS;
several grand and great grandchildren; sister, Darlene (Frank) Kantor
of Saskatchewan; brothers, Bill (Jean) Burgess of Saskatchewan, and
Curtis Burgess of Havelock, NB; many nieces, nephews and
cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a daughter
Tracy Burgess-Thorne; siblings, Kay Melanson, Keith Burgess and Wayne
Burgess.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care and direction of
the A H Brown Funeral Home, 5 McFarlane
Street, Springhill, (902 597 2361) from where a time of visitation
will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, November 2, 2022. A
Funeral Service will be held from the Funeral Home on Thursday,
November 3, 2022 at 1:00 pm with Captain Stephen and Captain Rosalyn
Toynton officiating. Burial to immediately follow the Funeral Service
in the Springhill Junction Cemetery, NS.
Donations in David’s memory may be made to a charity of
choice.
