Frank M Frey February 5th 2022

The children of Frank M. Frey wish to announce the passing of their dear father on Saturday, February 5, 2022. Dad was born on July 25, 1925 to Clement and Cecilia Frey on small farm near Kronau, Saskatchewan. He was the third born in a family of 14 children. As he grew up, it was plain to tell that his leadership skills were strong and he often led his younger brothers on all sorts of exciting and mischievous adventures. Making an airplane from old planks and flying it off a barn into haystack with his younger brother inside was one of the many stories told and laughed about all through the years. Frank was the first one of his siblings to attend High School at Campion College in Regina. He joined the armed forces in 1944 and earned the respect of his fellow soldiers and achieved the rank of 2nd Lieutenant before his honorable discharge in 1953. Dad had a calling for Education while in army, and he enrolled in the University of Saskatchewan in 1946 and obtained an Education and Arts degree in 1950. In the meantime, he met the love of his life Bertha in 1945 and they dated and married in 1948. Dad and mom moved to the Fort Norman, Northwest Territories in 1955 with their family. He had accepted his first principalship with their three children Linda, Gary and Jeannie. Later that year Cecile was born. In 1956 the family moved to Fort Resolution, N.W.T. and several years later to Inuivik NWT., then to Fort Simpson and finally Fort Smith, N.W.T. In that time two more children, Gordon (Gord) and Rene joined them. Dad joined the Federal Service as a Superintendent of Schools where he moved his family to Prince Albert, Saskatchewan in 1966. Dad had always had the spirit of an entrepreneurship and it wasn’t long before he and mom invested in the Colonial Apartments and became landlords. From there, Dad moved his family in 1970 to Saskatoon to take over as a superintendent in the Federal Education offices there. In 1974 he moved to Edmonton to accept another position as Director or the Federal Offices then retired in 1981 and moved back to Prince Albert where he could spend his full attention on his new challenge, the Colonial. He went into partnership with his oldest daughter, Linda and her husband Remi in the South Shore motel in Okanagan Fall, BC. Dad enjoyed many hobbies after his retirement from cross country skiing, to boat building and reciting Robert Service. He loved his grandchildren and took every opportunity to be with them. He and mom, lived in the tiny hamlet of Okanagan Falls as motel owners until dad lost the love of his life, mom, in an accidental death in 2003. Dad never got over mom’s death and moved to a home in Penticton in 2004. His last home was at Monashee Mews in Lumby when he moved in 2018 to be in the same town as his daughter Linda and her husband Remi until his death on February 5, 2022. Dad was predeceased by his loving wife Bertha, his parents Clement and Cecilia, his older brothers Nickolas and Frederick, his younger brothers Gerry and Michael, and sisters, Clara and Helen. He leaves to morn his children, Linda (Remi) (Glenn, Jackie and Jennifer) Gary, (Judy) (Kim, Kara, Chad and Jamie), Jeannie (Alan) (Robyn, Kristina and Jeff) Cecile (Bill) (Joshua, Tessa and Tyler) Gordon (Susan) (Samantha, Natasha and Kale) and Rene (Richard), his brothers and sisters, Joseph, Mary, Ann, Ralph, Theresa, Lorretta and James. Dads remains will be cremated and saved for an internment with his remaining family in July where he will be laid to rest with his beloved wife at the Okanagan Falls cemetery.

Nos plus sincères sympathies à la famille et aux amis de Frank M Frey February 5th 2022..
