Theresa Gold (nee Feifer) died on December 16, 2022, at the age of 99, only ten days short of her 100th birthday. She leaves behind a large family that adored her: Mark and Susan, Judy and Jacques, Howard and Jennifer, Beverly and Ian, Mendel; grandchildren Rachel, Michael, Melanie, David, Maya, Sarah, Annie, Bobby; great-grandchildren Jemma, Devin, Gabriel, Laurent, and Louis. She was predeceased by her husband Nathan Gold, brother-in-law Misha Gold; and her brother Nathan Feifer.
Theresa was survivor of the Holocaust. When Poland was partitioned in 1939, Theresa was separated from her parents and her sister, who perished in the Shoah. Theresa spent the war as a refugee in the Soviet Union. She returned to Poland after the war and with the two Nathans and Misha, immigrated to Montreal in 1948. She raised her three children and then went back to school to become a cytotechnologist. She worked for many years at the McGill Pathology Institute.
Theresa was kind and intelligent and open-minded and a totally independent thinker. She traveled and read a lot and was a committed cinephile. She also maintained an open home where visitors were always welcome. But above all, she loved her family, and they in turn loved her back.
The family extends its deepest gratitude to the entire staff at Manoir Westmount, where Theresa spent many years. Their competence, kindness and compassion made Manoir Westmount a true home for her. We particularly want to thank the nurses at Manoir and also Norma who provided aid and comfort to Theresa in her final months.
