“Behind every journey is a family”
Family was everything so it is only fitting that on this Family Day Evelyn “Evie” Alicia (Weston) (Garnett) Brown traded in her cake pans and apron strings for a pair of angel wings.
Born on November 15th, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Elton and Janet (McCavour) Weston and the loving wife of the late Arthur W Brown and her first husband, the late Douglas Garnett.
Putting herself thru Vocational school by working at the Wolworths Bakery, Evie graduated in 1948. She began working at NB Tel for a period and then on to Western Assurance. She sold Avon and eventually found her calling working as a housekeeper and caterer for Franklin Farms. She was very active in Al Anon and Alateen. Evie was a caregiver to many and had a natural talent for cooking and baking, creating many wedding and birthday cakes over the years. Anyone who entered her home, never left without a cup of tea and a feast of sweet treats.
Evie was a lifelong member of the Fairfield Baptist Church, the church choir and the Women’s Missionary Society.
Evie will be greatly missed by her children Wayne (Wanda) Garnett of St. Martins, Marilyn (Ted) Rankin of Fairfield and Calvin Brown of Saint John. Grandchildren Jason (Tammy), Sheena (Peter), Sarah (Hudson), Natalie (Paul), John (Amanda), Robert (Michelle), Shasta, Sean and Jackson, 13 Great Grandchildren, Sisters in Law Phyllis Weston, and Myrtle Belding and many nieces and nephews whom she loved like her own.
In addition to her parents and husbands, she was predeceased by her infant twins at birth, brothers David, Hudson, Wesley, and Lester, a sister Lucinda «Cindy» and daughter in law Sharon Floyd.
The Family would like to thank the staff of Dobbelsteyn Care Home and Loch Lomond Village – Cedar House for their exceptional love and care to our mom during her last few years.
Arrangements are entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (506-646-2424). Family will receive friends on Friday, February 25th, 2022 at Fundy Funeral Home, Saint John from 2:00 – 8:00pm. A funeral will be held from the Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, February 26th at 2:00 pm. A committal service and reception will take place in the spring.
Donations in her memory may be made to Fairfield Baptist Church, Brown’s Cemetery or a charity of the donor’s choice. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic restrictions, Proof of Vaccination and a form of government issued ID is required for all those attending.
