Passed away peacefully on Friday, April 15, 2022 at Erie Shores HealthCare one month before her 96th birthday. She was born in Reesor, Ontario, moved to Pelee Island in her youth, and lived the rest of her life in Leamington. She was predeceased by her loving husband of almost 60 years, Henry Derksen (2011), her daughter Judy (2003), her son Larry (2022) and all of her siblings. She is survived by her daughter Janet Woelk (Ben), her grandchildren: Stephanie Kauffman (Brad), Matthew Woelk (Juliet), Cole, Kyle and Christopher Derkson, and her great grandchildren: Caleb, Kadin, Jacob and Adella Kauffman, her loving sisters-in-law: Edith Wiens, Ruth Derksen, Catherine Heinrichs, her brother-in-law John Wiens, and many nieces and nephews. Mom was tiny, but she was mighty, surviving several tragedies in her life. She will forever be remembered as the sweetest, most loving, and always generous Mom, Oma, and Uhr Oma that any family could ever have. We will miss her dearly, but we’re very happy that she is now in heaven with her Lord and Saviour. We’d like to thank the nurse at Erie Shores HealthCare and the staff at the Leamington Mennonite Home for their tender loving care. Visiting at Reid Funeral Home and Reception Centre, 14 Russell Street, Leamington (519-326-2631) on Tuesday from 2-5 pm. Funeral service to celebrate Elizabeth’s life will be held at the Leamington United Mennonite Church, 78 Oak Street East, Leamington on Wednesday, April 20, 2022 at 11 am. Interment at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery to follow. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations to the Leamington Mennonite Home would be appreciated.
