Obituary
Passed peacefully away surrounded by her loving family, on Monday, October 3, 2022, at her home in Admirals Beach, St. Mary’s Bay, Elizabeth “Betty” Ann Power (nee Meehan), aged 80 years.
Predeceased by parents Michael & Mary Meehan, parents-in-law Joseph & Stella Power and Catherine Power, grandson Joshua Edmonds, sons-in-law Kenneth Hickey and Edward Power and all other relatives of the Power and Meehan families.
Leaving to mourn with cherished and loving memories, her husband of 60 years, Joseph; daughters: Brenda (Eddie), Doris, Marilyn and Doreen; sons: Melvin, Gary (Patricia), Keith (Ralene) and Joseph (Allison); grandchildren: Bradley, Christopher, Tara, Courtney, Joseph, Shianne, Makaylee and Katy; great-grandchildren: Dustin, Sophie, Jace, Ian and Aurora; sisters Lena Bishop and Ann Ryan, brother-in-law Leonard (Evelyn) Power, sisters-in-law Mary Frances Doody and Uriel (Ferg) Tobin and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Mom was a very loving, kind and hardworking person who worked tirelessly for her family. We were everything to her and she was everything to us. Always knitting, sewing and cleaning, her hands were never idle. She was an excellent cook and baker. Anyone who came to visit never left without a cup of tea and something to eat. She enjoyed opening gifts, playing cards and loved having a good laugh.
A special thank you is extended to Dr. Aguilar and staff at Villa Nova Medical Clinic, staff at Villa Nova Pharmacy and to Gibbons’ Ambulance Service for their care and support over the years. Also to Fr. Gerard Power for his visit and prayers, to Mary Power and Bride Parrott for their special lifelong friendship and to everyone else who called and sent messages during Mom’s illness.
Cremation has taken place. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at a later time to be announced. Donations in her memory may be made to the H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Care Foundation.
