It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Liz Ritchie at the Royal Jubilee Hospice with her family by her side. Liz leaves behind her beloved husband James (Jim) of 64 years, daughters, Heather (Allan) of Vancouver, and Gail of Victoria, grandchildren, Brian (Cristina), Jennifer, Amanda, Meghan, Nicole, and Grace, sister, Jean Johnson of Las Vegas, Nevada, sister-in-law, Grace Forsyth, of Portland, Oregon, and several nieces and nephews.
Liz was born in Glasgow, Scotland and came to Victoria, BC in 1953 with her parents. She worked at many places including the Empress Hotel, Hudson’s Bay, and Kelly Douglas. One of her favourite memories of working at the Empress Hotel as the elevator attendant was meeting Carey Grant and his wife.
In 1958, Liz married Jim in Victoria, BC and they started their lives together. Liz was a hardworking, and dedicated person who worked alongside her husband in their family business.
She loved to dance with her partner in life wherever they went. They vacationed at their home in Palm Springs during the Winter, enjoying the sun, playing tennis, and spending time with their friends at Deep Canyon. Liz played golf for many years at the Victoria Golf Club and Tennis at the Oak Bay Tennis Club. Liz loved fashion and had an elegant style; she would brighten any room she walked in to.
She was very close to her family and loved to know what was going on in everyone’s lives. Liz was a kind, generous, and thoughtful wife, mother, sister, aunt, and grandmother. We will all miss her dearly.
