Eileen Mary Frances Orr (Murton)
March 6, 1931 – July 18, 2022
Predeceased by her husband of 38 years Robert (Bob) Orr, parents Helen and Reginald Murton, brothers Douglas, Jack and Walter. Will be greatly missed by daughters Ann (John) MacLaughlan and Helen (the late Paul) Montoux. Grand-children Tyler, Tannis (Mitch), Kimberley, Owen (Taylor), Alison, Valarie and Samantha. Great-grandson Finn. Nieces Diana, Elaine (Rob) and nephew Keith (Christy).
Eileen led a full life. Born in Toronto, she attended public school there and completed high school at Branksome Hall. After skipping two grades along the way, she went directly into the University of Toronto (Vic College) graduating 3 years later. Eileen’s summers were spent up at Woodland Beach where she made lasting memories and friendships. Nothing made her happier than to be at the beach and watch the water rolling and out.
Following university, she headed out west with her friends “The Lovelies” and spent several years in BC working and travelling, eventually returning to settle in Toronto. At the Toronto Lawn and Tennis Club and amidst many parties and tennis matches, Eileen met her husband Bob Orr. They married in 1958 and the family soon grew to include two girls, Ann and Helen. The family settled in Leaside where they stayed until 1994. Eileen’s Leaside years included working at Bob’s printing shop and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario and ferrying the girls around to skating and swimming lessons.
Upon retiring, Eileen and Bob moved to Guelph and built a home. Bob died shortly after moving there and Eileen’s many years of travelling the world with her friends began. She thoroughly enjoyed these travelling years and was able to do so until into her ‘80s.
Eileen was very independent and never wanted to be a burden to anyone. She kept her own condo in Guelph until she decided she no longer wished to cook. At the age of 87, she moved to Collingwood where she could watch the waves of Georgian Bay and swim in the waters she so loved.
Her sparkling smile, her great sense of humour and her steadfast support and love for her family and friends through thick and thin will be greatly missed.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date followed by interment in Guelph.
